Sound manipulation. Cori can mute every sound surrounding her within a 100m radius upon the activation of her power. She can turn this power on or off as she chooses. Cori also has the ability to channel her powers through song. This aspect of her power is largely passive, but when Cori sings, she puts those who listen to her into a hypnotic trance-like state. She cannot use these abilities in tandem. |
Cori was born into a pretty nondescript family in Hong Kong. Her parents were average people with average jobs who lived in an average apartment. Her father was a salesman, and her mother was a nurse. There was nothing particularly outstanding about the Hon family. Then one day, her father suddenly died, the victim of a car accident. Cori and her mother were dumbstruck by the sudden loss in their family. And everyone around Cori grieved for that loss. Cori grieved with the rest of them, but a week passed, and still people lamented over her father's untimely death. Eventually, it got to the point where Cori broke down in the hospital, quietly wishing for everyone to shut up. And they did. She discovered that the sound surrounding her became muted upon her request. It frightened and horrified her at the same time. Time wore on in the Hon household, and things started to change rapidly. Her mother fell into a deep depression upon the death of her husband. Cori took it upon herself to look after her mother, to clean when she wouldn't, to cook when she didn't feel like it, and most importantly, to smile when she couldn't. She discovered another facet of her power during this time: that through song, one of her favorite hobbies, Cori could put people into trance-like states. She used this power to put her mother to sleep when she needed the rest. She decided to keep her powers a secret, only using them when absolutely necessary. In the meantime, Cori continued on with her life, making friends and winning the hearts of boys along the way. Cori recently graduated from secondary school, but at this point, she has little clue what to do with her life. For now, Cori is content to continue helping her mother around the house and have fun when she can, end of the world notwithstanding. |
The best way to describe Cori would be to call her an extroverted introvert. On the surface, she acts spunky, lively, and cheerfully; she almost always has a smile on her face. Cori does not socialize very often, but once she starts talking, it's hard to get her to stop. When she's bored, she starts humming to herself or whispering songs under her breath. She is also something of a dreamer, frequently losing herself within her own fantasies. Beneath this, Cori is a very self-conscious girl. She craves attention from other people, seeking their constant approval. She loves to impress and appease people, if only to feel a little better. This makes her fiercely dependent on others, to the point of clinginess. |
Cori is short – very short, actually, standing at 5'2". She dresses in conservative skirts and blouses, not one to flaunt her body. She bleaches her hair an ash blonde colour, and usually braids it. Her brown eyes shine with warmth, but if you look closely enough, you'll find a repressed anxiety hidden within her eyes. |
